Gen-reef is a collaborative work by unobject and Taiwanese interdisciplinary technology art team WHYIXD.
Nature can be seen as a generative language, with time as its logic. From mountains and deep seas to the earth’s surface, countless small units gradually build into complex forms such as mineral veins and crystals. Gen-reef translates this process of natural growth through the geometric and expandable modular structure of unobject’s branding element Tetra, creating a
lattice-like landscape that spreads through the space, like mineral veins and coral reefs.
As visitors enter, the colors of the lattice respond to the colors they wear, extending the process of natural generation into an ongoing interaction of sensing and response between people and the artwork—reflecting the idea of Future-Nature Synergy. Color is no longer merely a visual characteristic carried by the viewer, but becomes an active variable within the work itself. Every entrance, every silhouette, it transforms the light, color, and state of the space.
《幻礁 Gen-reef》由 unobject 攜手臺灣跨領域科技藝術團隊「何理互動(WHYIXD)」共同創作，展開一場關於「生成」的探索。
自然界如同一套生成式語言，時間是其生成邏輯；在山脈、深海與地表之間持續演算，最終形成多元而複雜的結構，如礦脈、如晶體，綿延至今。這些跨越漫長時間的反覆生成，由最小的單元逐一推疊成形。人類則透過技術與材料的再製，汲取自然的結晶智慧，使專屬自然的生成邏輯邁入日常視角。
《幻礁 Gen-reef》以 unobject品牌元素Tetra的可延展特性為核心，將其組構方式類比為自然界的「礦脈」與「海洋珊瑚」。作品將自然界由單元逐步生成、聚合的過程，轉化為蔓延於空間中的晶格結構，使觀眾彷彿潛行深海，或穿行洞穴，進入一座礦脈與珊瑚交錯的生成地景。當觀者步入展間，晶格中的光色將隨其身上色彩轉變，使作品由自然的「生成」進一步延伸至人與作品之間的「感知與回應」，讓人與作品在持續的互動中形成連結。色彩不再只是觀者身上的視覺特徵，而成為作品運作中的一項變數；每一次進入、每一個身影，都可能改變空間的光色與狀態。

LEE & BAE's presentation at KIAF SEOUL 2026 explores the intersection of materiality and immateriality, as well as the relationship between nature and human perception, through a selection of paintings, installations, and media works. By bringing together artists working across diverse mediums, the booth expands the layers of sensory experience and creates an environment in which visitors can discover meaningful dialogues between the works. The booth is organized around installation and sculptural works, with paintings and hanji (traditional Korean paper) works integrated organically to create a continuous visual and spatial flow. Bongsang Yoo's paintings provide a sense of stability through their accumulated materiality and temporality, while Kwangik Song's hanji works reveal the tactile qualities of traditional Korean paper and the depth of time embedded within the material. Together, these two-dimensional works establish the overall atmosphere of the presentation. WHYIXD's technology-based works use light and movement to encourage visitors to engage with the space in different ways. Rather than remaining static objects, the works continuously transform the atmosphere of the booth as viewers move through the space. Minjeong Guem's video sculptures combine moving images with sculptural forms, visualizing the passage of time and the accumulation of memory while serving as a bridge between two- and three- dimensional expressions. Through the contrast between the stillness of paintings and the dynamism of installation and media works, the booth offers a rich and layered sensory experience. While embracing the distinct material characteristics and formal languages of each medium, the presentation is unified by shared themes of natural rhythms, temporality, and the expansion of perception.

WHYIXD is a Taiwanese new media art installation studio. With a focus on "Future-Nature Synergy," they examine the environment-human relationship through detailed observations. Using various materials and technologies, their art conveys subtle emotions and inner poetry that words and images cannot capture in the digital era.
