城市聲景
Pop music is like the heartbeat of the city, it beats with intricate sensations, carrying abundant and intriguing cultural expressions of the era. Whenever nostalgic melodies are heard, memories of time when the song was sung are recalled by the audiences, warming up emotional memories within.
This work transforms invisible audio memories into spatial dimensions, interacting with the audiences’ memories in unique ways. Utilizing artistic creation to create a city with various expressions, enabling the audiences to go through a musical space-time corridor, reliving the good old memories of the nostalgic music.


Soundscape is co-created by the art group "WHYIXD" and musician “Ma Nien-Hsien”. Ma's musical style is infused with funk/disco elements of pop music from the 1980s. He composes with electronic sounds generated by synthesizers, narrating the stories and urban vibes across generations.
WHYIXD uses the special optical effect of polarizers on the signboard to present the appearance of the city. Lyrics of Ma's song “Taipei New York“ are converted into the design on both sides of the signboard, representing different stories between the eras and the atmosphere of Taipei/New York.
Soundscape will light up according to lyrics and melodies one by one. Polarizers of different polarization angles are overlaid with mirrors above the space, reflecting the hidden messages on both sides of the signboards.
By this implicit design method that is useful in creating a different sensory experiences, we seek to bring physical emotional responses. The audience not only could relive the good old days within their memory through the effect of lights and melodies, but also strengthen new emotional experiences by interacting with the artwork.

此外,何理互動更利用偏光片的特殊光學效果,將歌詞以透明偏光片安裝於招牌上,並設置與其相異角度的偏光片於鏡面上,藉由倒映反射的效果呈現出歌詞所傳遞的訊息。
觀眾必須親身走進裝置,才得以看見鏡面上所呈現的歌詞,以此隱晦、暗示的手法引導觀眾以不同的感官經驗(聽覺轉換為視覺)帶來身體性的情緒記憶,不僅能再次藉由歌詞的的顯現翻開一格格記憶櫥窗,更能透過一場儀式性的參與過程強化記憶與情緒的韌度。
《城市聲景》是何理互動與音樂人馬念先共同創作,馬念先的音樂作品帶有強烈的80年代風格,他擅長使用各種合成器、電子琴音效,描寫各個世代的故事與都市場景,是樂壇最具都會代表性的音樂創作人之一。
何理互動則運用「招牌」來描繪城市的樣貌,將馬念先《台北紐約》的歌詞轉換為招牌內容,並分別在招牌的兩面設置代表不同年代及城市的歌詞,同時間,搭配燈光和歌曲的變化逐一亮起相應的歌詞,讓觀眾沉浸在有如戀人對話般曲調氛圍,走進樂音鋪設而成的「時光廊道」。
